ALL ABOARD FOR THE TENNESSEE THREE!
The Legendary Johnny Cash's band The Tennessee Three join us at The Ironworks on Tuesday 27th October. Famous for creating his iconic "boom-chicka-boom" freight train sound, this is no cover band this is The Man in Black's backing band of choice!

From his early stardom until his last years as a performer, Johnny Cash chose to work with only one band and depended upon them to provide him with the unique sound that would come to be recognized by millions of fans over the world. Bob Wootton provided the unique "boom-chicka-boom" guitar that classifies most of Johnny's songs. The music of The Tennessee Three is as important to the sound and successes of Johnny Cash as his own voice.

TURIN BRAKES BRING THEIR BEST
Coinciding with a release of their Best Of album we're pleased to tell you that Turin Brakes will be appearing at The Ironworks in October but we're not allowed to give away the date just yet, you'll have to wait 'till Monday to find out!

Turin Brakes have commonly be compared to many of the new acoustic movement bands from the late '90s such as Elbow and Starsailor but there's much more to them than just that. Formed by long term friends Olly Knights and Gale Paridjanian from London their debut EP "The Door" in 1999, followed by two more, "The State of Things" and "Fight or Flight".
In 2001 it was time for full length. "The Optimist" was greeted with critical praise and two singles, "Underdog" and "Emergency 72", were relesed from it to moderate success and was alos nominated for the Mercury Music Prize.

"Ether Song", the second full length release from Turin Brakes, reached number 4 in the UK charts and provided singles including "Long Distance" and "Pain Killer". With a diparture to the gentle acoustic sound of "The Optimist" "Ether Song" was a much more bold and rocky album.
Their third album, "JackInABox", charted straight into the top 10 in 2005 and was recieved with acclaim and a fourth in 2007, "Dark on Fire", preceded by a cover of Cat Stevens' "Here Comes My Baby".

Now it's 2009, and with 2008 consisting of recording NEW material and working with and writing for Take That, it's back to the road with their Best Of album to mark the 10th anniversary of their first single "The Door".

FANCY AN EVENING IN WITH EDWYN?
Best known for fronting Orange Juice in the 80s and the single "A Girl Like You" we're pleased to announce that Edwyn Collins will be appearing at The Ironworks on Monday 19th October in association with Tune Up.

Edwyn, born in Edinburgh, formally fronted post punk band Orange Juice (best known for their hit single "Rip It Up") but after their disband in 1985 he went solo. In 1989 he released his first LP "Hope and Despair" which proved to be quite successful on the independant charts which was followed by 1990's "Hellbent on Comprimise".
Four years later and on a new a label Edwyn released "Gorgeous George" in 1994. Collins had a massive international hit "A Girl Like You" which went top ten in over 6 countries with widespread airplay and MTV airtime.
With 3 albums further releases after "Gorgeous George", "I'm Not Following You", "Doctor Syntax" and "A Casual Introduction" - a collection of Orange Juice and solo work, Edwyn was set to release his seventh album but in 2005 he was admitted to intesive care after suffering from a brain hemorrhage. After six months, and his discharge from hospital, his seventh album "Home Again" was mixed and released.

Edwyn has recently returned to singing live and after his mesmerising 2008 appearance at Belladrum Tartan Heart festival to a stowed out tent we can't wait to have him returning north where he will be supported by The 1990s!
